 About Troy Holt

I spent 12 years in the Australian Defence Force and was unfortunately medically discharged in 2012. During that time I was lucky enough to travel quite alot and have seen some places that really aren't known about or easily accessable, and unfortunately no camera.

My interest in photography started back in 2008 when a good friend of mine showed me some of his work, and it flicked a switch inside that made me want to try something different.

Soon came my first DSLR camera, bought second hand off a photography forum, but little did I know that you had to buy a lens seperate :-( Time for a lens, but what lens? Will I be sticking out this hobby long enough to warrant buying something of good quality or will it be a phase that I will outgrow in a month or so? I decided to buy a grey import kit lens off ebay and see how it goes.

A few years went past, and photography was growing on me, becoming more than just a hobby - a part of life now.

My preffered style of shooting is Landscape, Seascape and Nightscape, but slowly starting to cover other fields within the industry. For me getting up before the sun is up isn't a hassle or tiring, it is inspiring and gives you a buzz for what is install for the rest of the day. So many nice sunrises out there, but unless you are willing to get up early you miss the spectacular colours, smells and feelings that they can bring.
